Default Replacing timing chain ; need position of crank shaft for timing chain

cant seem to get the right position/timing mark diagram on the crank shaft for timing belt , been difficult finding the tool to do it as well. Any suggestions on the position for the crank shaft and is there a substitute tool I can use? for a 2005 Jaguar xj

Welcome to our world.

You will need to be more specific as to teh engine in the '05 XJ.

V8 or V6. I am GUESSING V8. They have specific "lock down" tools just for that task.

I would strongly suggest the X350 section, a tad further down from this one, as the guys in there will know.
