Default Rubber Flap

I have recently removed the transmission from my '03 XJ8 to repair, and when I lowered it a rubber flap about 6" x 6" with 2 slots one side dropped down. I cannot seem to find where it belongs. Can anyone help? Thanks

It hangs off the steel bracket for the gearbox and Oxygen Sensor connectors to cover the gearbox VENT.

Welcome to the forum Rob,

2003 was an XJ8 model changeover year from the steel bodied X308 (1997-2003) to the aluminium bodied X350 (2003-2009). If you identify your model, I'll move your question to the relevant model forum.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Thank you Bob, so I assume the slits go over 2 of the little tabs that the connectors push onto? I see this bracket is a 90deg piece with one short side and 1 longer side. Which side do I push it onto. (I am not at the vehicle so am just talking from memory)

After working on THOUSANDS of Jaguars I don't remember the difference between the X308 and the X100 brackets and the WATER DEFLECTOR as it is called in the JEPC.

I just hang them back where I found them.

X308 part number HJB3770AA is all I can tell you.

Dear Bob,

Thank you, I found where it goes once under the car.
