Default The squeaks, rattles and groans dept.

Thought I'd pass this one on.
Looking for a rear-end rattle which sounded just like shocker bushes failing, I decided to spray every joint I could find in that area with "motorcycle non-fling chain 'lube". I did this several times, with about a quarter-hour between each application.
It didn't make much difference, not rightaway. But after a month or two, I began to notice the rattle just wasn't there anymore, no matter what the ambient temperature. (It used to be worse in warm weather).
Six months later, it's still not rattling.
Howzzat then?!
Leedsman.

Good tip :-)

I'm sensitive to odd noises and rattles so I know how satisfying it is to actually meet with success in making them go away.

Right now I'm battling a dashboard rattle. It has become my arch nemesis. After that one's fixed....right now it's still winning the battle....I'll try your spray lube technique on a "doink" sound from the rear suspension.

Cheers
DD
