Where to buy XJS V12 Con Rod Bearings
Hello friends.
I have embarked on an engine repair trip as well as full suspension.
The engine was running low on oil pressure when warm and when stripped, found that the bearings were worn out, but not enough to hurt the crankshaft, everything is still standard, thank God
I managed to locate new main bearings but cannot locate std con rod bearings.
Can anyone help point me in the direction of a vendor who might have them.
Grateful for any help.
Farouk

I don't know if you can order from the US or not?
But they seem pretty common over here. Price is even OK too about $160 for the set.
They have standard as well as .010" and .020" oversized bearings if you need to grind the crank.

Hi again your majesty
Having placed the order and paid for it through my debit card, they sent me a notification a couple of days later that they are out of stock, although on their website it was reading in stock.
So I resumed my search until eventually I found a supplier in England who had it in stock. Being std size was the problem.
Anyway, to add to my torture they needed a bank transfer as they did not have the facility to purchase online.
This cost me an extra $10 which they charge as bank charges on their side and another $30 from my bank as charges for the transfer!!
Anyway finally the order is through and expecting them to ship early next week.
The brand they are offering is AE and I have no clue about it but the supplier said this is sort of original equipment. Any comment from your side?
Please see attachment below.
Thanks for your comment.
Cheers

Farouk,
It is very likely your XJS was originally fitted with AE bearings. The major UK engine bearing manufacturer in the 1950's and 60's was Vandervell used by prestige vehicle manufacturers. AE was founded in the late 1960's and with quality matching Vandervell, was soon taken up by many UK vehicle manufacturers as their OE supplier.
Good luck with your project. Both an engine and suspension rebuild is a lot of work and expense.

Hey great job! What a bunch of work too. Yes it's the same over here. Things not in stock even though they list them as in stock. I am trying to be patient and now expect long delays on just about everything. I really hate the outfits that take your order and ALL your shipping info only to fall apart at the end with nothing in stock. Just tell me up front you don't have it and save both of us a lot of useless work.

Hello again and many thanks for your supportive comments.
When I purchased this car in Nov 2014, it was indeed in a very good state with only just over 50K original miles.
This originality I confirmed when I took down the suspension and engine, and gave a thorough scraping/cleaning and repainting of the undercarriage.
Everything had the Jaguar insignia stamped on as well as part numbers where one rarely expects the parts to be the original ones still.
That really made me quite happy.
Before the above mentioned repairs, I had replaced the original one light look with the twin headlamps. The old ones' reflector lenses were rusted and one was replaced by a Peugeot headlight which was the same.
A couple of years ago refurbished the top lifting cylinders which were leaking badly.
Now looking forward to driving the car again an hoping to see the oil gage remain well up after the car has warmed up
Below a couple of photos of the car with the old and new headlights.
Stay safe gents and happy motoring
Cheers

This was my first ride in the car with the Jaguar Club of Lebanon
This is when I changed the headlights and gave the car a nice polish
