How easy is it to change the top bush on the front near side shock absorbor

One of the easiest tasks you will ever do.

About 30 minutes, and that depends on the year model of the XJ6 you are dealing with.

Might pay to add the car details to your sig, so we "oldies" dont have to guess, and then getting it wrong.

mine is a 1997 xj6 sport, in brooklands green, we keep thinking of updating to an xf but the wife loves ours

OK, CAREFUL here.

The shocker is the travel limiter of the front suspension,

SOOOOO, remove the wheel, support the lower suspension arm, as in lower the car onto a safety stand to slightly compress that spring, DO NOT use a hydraulic jack here. a solid support is required, that will keep it safely in its socket, remove the nut on the top (inside the engine bay), push down on the shocker (that will be fun), and quickly remove and replace the lower bush, and allow the shocker to expand thru the hole and refit the upper bush, washer and nut.

All done, wheel back on, quite drive awaits you.

The shockers are gas charged, and compressing them can be a challenge, but imagination helps a lot here.
