Default Charge Point Has A New 50 AMP Charger

50AMP and, on spec, should be the fastest now out there. List is $699. https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/home/ Looks like a big improvement over what I have from them. I've asked if there is a trade in program, waiting to hear back.

Yes, let us know about any trade in program. I have the 32 amp model in my garage.

Looks like to go to the full 50 AMP you need 70A/80A breakers. I installed the 50s so without changing out the breaker I can only go to 40A charging. The same unit can be hard-wired (required for most configurations) or plug and you get a choice of plugs: https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/...allation/flex/ Still waiting on the trade-in question.

Not sure what the point is, the I-pace will only accept 7kw and you get that with a 32 amp charger. The 50 amp will not charge any faster.

Agreed and I double checked with the ChargePoint folks. However, your next electric will likely take more current and I'm betting Jaguar will eventually have to upgrade their onboard charger so it does make sense of you don't have a charger yet. Sadly, no upgrade program or I'd buy one to review.

I just had the ChargePoint Flex installed in my garage on a 50A circuit. It was very easy installation, and it only took my electrician about an hour. The total charge for the installation was just over $300, which essentially consisted of the installation of a 240V NEMA 6-50 wall socket.

Looking forward to charging the car at home for the first time!

I'm also hopeful that a future upgrade will allow the I-Pace to charge at a faster rate, but I don't think it will matter too much. I'll be charging the vehicle at night, and there are plenty of hours of time in the evening to meet my charging needs.
