Witricity has been working on this for some time as well. I believe you could even order their solution for a BMW electric at one point. It makes sense for a fleet vehicle but the cost of installation for the pads and related hardware is prohibitive and other than that initial BMW trial I'm not aware of anyone else offering the technology as an option yet. At least the Witricity solution could be used without having your garage floor cut for the module and wiring. So far the combined problems of the cost of installing the module on the car and installing the charging stations have proven daunting but, eventually, because of the problems with the high power plugs, it is still likely we'll end up with a wireless charging solution by default. More likely in the 2030s than 2020s however given we need to get to critical mass in either wireless charging cars or chargers and the industry hasn't even started down that path yet. So look for this for things like electric busses, electric utility vehicles, and self-driving electric cabs first.

Wireless charging will be useful at parking sites while you are at work or shopping at the malls. Will also benefit the people who don't have access to direct EV plug in like apartments, high rise condo, hotels, etc.
If one car company introduces wireless charging as standard equipment on all their EV more likely other car makers will follow as well.

It is a cart and horse problem. Buyers don't want the technology in their cars until they can use it, and parking lot owners won't put it in until cars start using their lots that can use it. Typically this kind of thing requires a mandate and co-funding to get it off the ground which is why it only makes sense for fleet vehicles at the moment, but outside of trials, I haven't seen a depot install the technology yet. Like you I think it makes a ton of sense once we have cars at critical mass with the receivers but getting their remains problematic. I'd hoped the garage solutions in single family dwellings would be going in by now but without the car makers offering the receiver option that can't happen either. Here is the article on the 2019 BMW pilot: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...g-on-the-530e/
