I have a 98 XJR and want to condition the leather. I have purchased Connolly hide food. Link: http://www.motorcarsltd.com/HIDE.FOOD.CON.html But was advised by the local jaguar dealers parts counter that this product will remove the dye from my cars leather. Is this true? If this is not safe to use what would you recommend?

I don't think it will remove the die especially because the leather is Connolly. I know of people who use the hide food and I've never heard of it ruining the leather. I have heard of Lexol removing the die on someone's steering wheel (but I don't know the whole story). You should be fine. If you're worried, just do it on a very inconspicuous area first, or wait for someone else to chime in.

 

I use this stuff exclusively on my '00 XK8 and I love the results. You have to be thorough when using it, but the stuff flat out works. No dye removal issues here.

 

Update. I tried the Connolly Hide Food and it did not take the die out. Seemed to work perfectly.
