CD/Radio screen not lighting up (X Type)

CD/Radio screen not lighting up (X Type)
I have purchased a 2004 X type which has a few issues one of which is the CD/Radio and clock screen won`t light up, so driving at night its almost impossible to read.
Has anyone one got any ideas how to fix this?
