2001 Jaguar S-type motor compatibility

2001 Jaguar S-type motor compatibility
I need to replace the motor in my 2001 Jaguar S-type (it has a P as the 8th digit) it has the 4.0 in it and I have access to a 3.9. My question is, will the 3.9 be compatible with my Jaguar or would I have to change a lot of things in order to change over to the 3.9? Thanks for any all all help!
