Default Oil Pump Questions for 5.3L V12 in 1985 XJS

Engine: 5.3L V12
Car: 1985 XJS

If the engine is out of the car how can I test the oil pump to insure it is good?
Can it be rebuilt? If so, what company has a rebuild kit?
If I want to replace the pump which company offers the best price?
What other parts should be replaced when the pump is out?
Can the pump be driven to produce pressure before the engine is started?

Thanks!

To piggy back off of Safari, how can I determine if the oil pump is working properly. I'm getting code P1384. I changed the vvt solenoid, the camshaft, the bracket that attaches to the camshaft. The only other issue that could cause this code is low oil flow to the right vvt solenoid.

Thanks.

given that new ones are now over £500 + you will need the later type of crank drive (total £600+ ) I wouldnt even bother to check. It will work fine even if has a score mark or 2.
