I have the mobile version of the site on my Iphone. On the top bar, next to whatever area you are in, there is a "bell." On my phone there is usually a number in a red dot (seemingly indicating a number of alerts or messages?) on top of this bell. I have tapped it several times over the course of time out of curiosity, and each time I do the app locks up and Will Not Do Anything until I clear the phones history and start over. What is this thing? Cautiously intrigued, Jerry

 

Are you sure you're using the mobile version? The bell icon in the full/desktop version, which can be used on mobile devices if overridden, is the notification bell for notifications (new private messages, new visitor messages, new friend requests, etc.,) and is a shortcut to each of those via a drop-down menu that requires javascript. Sounds like your device or browser is not executing javascript properly if it locks up.

 

I see. Maybe it's a problem in my phone. I can look at my messages in the "main" page going back out of the site to see that I have no new messages. I can also see that I I have no new messages in my computer by clicking on the bell there next to my name. It's intriguing that the number on the bell in my phone often changes as if there was some meaning to it. Maybe it's haunted.

 

Today I watched the little number go from 3 this morning to 6 to 7 this evening with no Actual messages ever in my inbox. I clicked on the bell, the page froze. I waited, and then double clicked it and the square around the bell turned black and the number went away. I double clicked again and the bell remained black. Is this an Apple thing or what's the dillyo?
