Default BMW sponsored posts keep popping up?

Is it just my PC or is anyone else being plagued by BMW posts posing as new threads. Each time I change page, refresh or open the forum, I get a different BMW post.
Not that I dislike BMWs, but are they supposed to keep appearing like this?

Do you mean posts or adverts?

I can't say I've seen 'posts' from BMW.

Posts. Here's one:
1 BMW, 36 china vases, 6500 revs, Let the fun begin.

They are sponsored by BMW, which I find odd on a Jaguar forum. It says 'Sponsored Post by BMW Approved Used Cars'

I hadn't seen any BMW posts on the forum but having viewed the link am forced to agree with your choice of the word 'plague'.

The screengrab I've posted above shows one, but I haven't opened up the thread yet apart from to copy and paste the link. Do you not see them on the forum, like the word doc. I've posted above? Is that just on MY computer?

NO- you have not been specially selected for this treatment!

It doesn't appear using my usual Firefox 25.0.1 browser with AdBlocker but does appear in a standard install of IE 10.

Time for some digging around to find out what's going on.

Ah, we had a similar problem last December with a post-release advert for Mazda which had the same annoying behaviour.

I'll report this thread to IB (the forum owners) and ask if they can take down the advert.

Meanwhile if you go to your user CP and change the forum display skin to 'Default Style' rather than 'Jaguar37' you'll kill a whole chunk of adverts because the space will no longer be there for them. (User CP/Edit Options/Forum Skin/Default Style) Might be a temp solution for you, although permanent for me.

My other server setings mean that I don't ever see this type of advert, thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks. Default is now set and much better, even though the BMW posts still appear. I was just concerned that it may have been some kind of virus, but it's easy to ignore now I know it's not malicious.

I've tried several different browsers, one of which has no ad or tracking blockers and cannot get the BMW post to appear. The only way I can see it is by clicking on your link

How strange.

I don't see BMW but had seen toybota (you know what I refer to lol ), Ford ads as far as I remember . Ford made sense because at those times Ford built up a group called Premier Automotive Group and Jaguar was one of these premium brands
Anyway, back to the studio emmmm I mean back to the topic, I can also see Coventry Jaguar adds on the forum's main page as a banner which is ..... well scrumptious lol
Try Maxtron II (being quite a few years since I last used it ) ,it blocked annoying adds
Speaking of annoying adds , I hate such adds like women looks is blah blah but looks younger, 100000 food that kills ,ewwww obnoxious ,these get on my nerves and makes me puke
Thank you JF Team and Internet Brands Team ,you never bother those irritating adds

Let's hope not! Since you're using Firefox, this software

https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox

will block all the annoying ads on this and most other websites

This

https://www.ghostery.com/

will stop people from tracking your surfing habits.

Let us know if you still get the posts from BMW.

I'm already using AdBlock Plus, but I've not used Ghostery or even heard of it before. I'll check it out and install it if it's OK.

^ bear with us, I have reported the problem and if you read the 'post-release' bit in my post you may start to understand why only certain audiences are being affected.

Hopefully we will be able to give you a better deal.

OK, so apparently some changes were made yesterday.

Hope this helps.

Richard

Hi Richard,

I made some changes to PostRelease's settings to ensure it is only displaying for logged out users. As such, manycars should no longer be seeing sponsored posts. If he continues to see these ads, please let me know.

Thanks!
