Default Disappearing posts?

Interesting issue: on 8/21 I posted pictures to the https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...thread-113199/ . It was post #73. There were two other users that commented right after I posted. My entire 4 photo post is gone, but the images are still in my profile in the "my post pictures" gallery. The posts have also been renumbered. Any explanation to this mystery? Thank you in advance!

Marc,

Was that link to the Official XJ ( X350 & X358 ) Picture Thread live when you posted the question?

Twenty minutes later and the entire thread has disappeared!

I have times where half the posts in a thread are missing. If I back out and re click the link they usually show up.

Marc - these were removed by me, for a simple reason

The images posted were way too big, causing users to have to scroll sideways across the screen to view.
I and many others here take time to resize pics to acceptable limits, and to some degree to auto feature takes care of the rest.

I'm sorry but we just simply have too much to do to have to resize, repost these pics as it happens too often, in this case they were removed.
I'm sure you can appreciate the time and effort that the mod team put I to this site and this is just one of many multiple functions that need attention.

Please feel free to re post pics at acceptable sizes and share with everyone.
Thanks
Jim

Thank you Jim, that is a simple explanation. I truly appreciate the clarification. I've been using the site for over 5 years and other than the limitations listed when uploading I was unaware the site would allow one to upload images that are too big, good to know. On an additional note my browser auto sizes images with the option to view full size when selected, this is set to avoid the scrolling issues, so I was unaware of any issues for others. Regardless, I will be more cognizant of picture size moving forward.

Thank you again and thanks to all the admins for all their work. It is highly valued.

That would explain why I have to scroll sideways in the thread below, it just started doing it recently. A real PITA

Bloody moderators!
I'll send Steve a PM and see if he can fix the pics.
TBH I thought the forum auto resized the pics now.

Sorry for having to remove your posts MarcB, You're a valued member and it's less than ideal I know, but sometimes, just is what it is I'm afraid.
Fortunately these are limited instances with long time serving and valued members
Best

As above Norri, pics removed to resolve
Please ask Steve if he'd like to repost.

Generally, auto resizing works, especially in combo with reasonably sized pics to begin with. In some instances it can take a few seconds, and or a simple refresh may resolve the issue
Other than that it's in the lap of the gods, with everything else required it can get a little tedious to have to resolve post after post and ultimately very time consuming
