Default Forum etiquette advice, please.

Hi. I'm a member of XKEC and JEC in the UK, and create the occasional thread on those forums. Being UK based, it is clearly sensible of me to be a member of those clubs. I've now (today!) joined Jaguarforums, following some information from whiteXKR which he posted on that forum.

Now, here's the question. There is a very big and clearly experienced membership of this forum. Is it acceptable to post the same new thread on both forums (XKEC and this one), or alternatively to refer/place a link from one forum to the other? Thanks!

My two cents worth is that there's no problem cross posting as long as it's mentioned in the post. There may be competition amongst web sites for other car brands, don't believe that's the case here.

Oh- and a warm welcome by the way!

I don't see any problem with this, we are all looking for the same thing, the knowledge to be able to maintain the vehicles properly.
We already have some members who post on other forums and while there are not many direct links (though some do exist) it is not uncommon to suggest going to another site if a topic has been discussed in detail there.

Hi David, thanks for your post on this and welcome to Jaguarforums, good to have you here with us.

As for your question?
Some sites frown upon it but its not something we have an issue with here tbh. There are more than a few members here that also used other sites, as they are free to do. We have no issues with references to other forums / sites etc, but as Norri says and for obvious reasons, posting direct links to other sites isn't really the way to go.

You can, as I have done myself a few times, create a post in whichever forum you wish and then essentially create the same post in another forum and just copy / paste the post into it, job done and no links involved!
