Knowing your vehicle model and your location would help as compliance requirements vary across World markets.
VIN and other information according to market, is displayed on a label located on the LH door post above the door striker plate, visible when the door is open. The VIN is also displayed on a plate visible through the windscreen.
For certain markets, the vehicle Build Date is also displayed on a metal plate located at the top of the battery tray in the luggage compartment.
