Default Sponsored linked words

To Forum Gods,

I've noticed that sometimes the word "cars" appearing in a post, but the page it links to is not about the post, but is a link to a new car ad. Can you tell me the source of this advertising service?

Thanks much,
Joe

Hey Joe, next time this happens please hit the Report Post button so that we can check it out for being either legit, or spam.

I'm not aware of an embedded keyword Ad campaign, and all such legit posts should be either 'Sponsored' threads or be from the forum Vendors.

Any other type needs to be looked at, as most likely Spam.

If you have a specific post in mind, Report it, we will then look at it, and if it is Spam, both it and the Poster will be history.

I've been told that it's also like a virus on one's computer. In other words, I may be the only one seeing those links because of this implanted thing that says "When you encounter the c-a-r-s, create a link to our dealership." It may not be on the site itself. I checked various threads yesterday and it couldn't find one. But I'd never seen it before on any other websites. I will report it if it happens again.

I've seen that several times Joe particularly with the word car.

Right now I'm getting seriously hacked off with a Ford banner add that drops down and covers half the link bar at the top of the forum with no apparent way to close it.

Install Adblock Plus and Ghostery to block the ads and trackers.

I have, but that's not the point.
Many people won't want to do that and the ad drops down and makes the forum practically unusable and as far as I can see has no means to close it out.
Not very user friendly IMHO.

It isn't doing it for me anymore. I shut down my system and rebooted. That may have done it. My laptop is usually on all the time.
