Default Something Working

Hi Norri,

Yes, with the help of Jaginfo.org who thought that my problems were with their site, we were able to work out the following;

The browser that I use is IE 10 and with that browser nothing was working on this forum. With the same browser everything was working fine on Jaginfo.org which I had never even joined.

A recommendation was made to switch my browser so I switched to Google Chrome and after an entire day, I am now able to post on this site but ONLY with Google Chrome. I am still unable to post anything with IE 10 which is my preferred browser. However, after writing to everyone I could think of, I was contacted by someone from Internet Brands who is now working with me. These problems only started a few weeks ago.

Good thing that I recently retired and really had nothing better to do today than to troubleshoot my problems. The day I spent today was harder than being at work and with NO pay.

Please let me know if you can think of anything to help me back on this site with IE 10 or refer it to one of the tech guys. Greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ed

Ed, I'm going to move the thread over to the help and advice section and we will see what the suggestions are, I assume you have gone through the exercise of clearing cookies, cache etc?

Default Posting Problems

Thank you Cadillac,

For the time being I am able to post fine using Google Chrome but will keep your suggestion in mind should I develop other problems.

I never experienced any problems with IE 10 on this or other forums and still have no problems using it with other forums but there seems to be some kind of glitch that developed a few weeks ago when trying to post on this forum.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and support.

Ed

I completely gave up on IE10 after having way too many freeze-ups and went back to IE9. (seems to be stable enough).

If you really want to use IE10 and you are having problems, the first thing to do is to remove any add-ons you may have and start with a 'virgin' browser.

Then add and test each one 'individually'.

EG, ISpell causes problems in IE10 for me. (hanging or just plain not working).

Lastly Thursday is a maintenance day for the forum servers, so you might not want to test on a Thursday as the forum will be down at times.

Or you could wait until 2014 and install Win 9 and IE 11, yee ha!!

Or Microsoft could just do it for you if you have auto update enabled!

Default IE 10 Problems

Hi Norri,

Yes, one of the first things that I was told to do was to delete cookies, caches and browsing history which I did but to no avail.

I have now received an e mail from Internet Brands saying that they modified some settings for me and that I should now give it a try.

This is my first attempt at a writing a post using IE 10.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Default IE 10 Problems

It looks like the modifications to my settings made by Internet Brands may have worked since above post is the first one that went through on IE 10 since my problem began a few weeks ago. I will keep my fingers crossed but it is good to know that I can always switch my browser to Google Chrome to enter posts.

A sincere thank you to everyone who offered assistance and suggestions.

Thanks for the update Ed, looks like it worked.

What did they suggest that you do?

Hi Norri,

In answer to your question IB did not really ask me to do much and seemed to correct things from their end.

The person who worked on my problem was Jason Rechtman.

At first they just asked for a screen shot to see the kinds of error messages that I was receiving.

They then asked me to delete all cookies, caches and browsing history which I did but to no avail.

Jason was persistent and after one day, he wrote to tell me that some changes to settings from their end were made and that I should now try using IE 10 to post messages. I never asked him what changes were made from their end since I am not a technical person and probably would not have understood anyway.

I followed his suggestion and this time it worked and has been working since. They were really quite helpful and Jason was very easy to work with.

Thank you for your interest and support.

IE 11 won't let me insert a hyperlink, the window doesn't popup. Google Chrome is fine.

Old song from me ... I have never seen sites as demanding of permissive browser settings as the automotive forums owned by IB. And I go to a *lot* of sites.
