Default Dealer only configuration settings.

I gather there are several (many?) options that can only be set by the dealer. Drop down mirrors in reverse, Rolling up the windows with the key fob, Daytime running lights...

Is there a complete list here on the forum of what all these options are as well as the different choices available for these options?

I am getting ready to drop by the dealership and have them change a few and figured while I would read up on what was available prior to stopping by the dealership.

Thanks

Well I read through the manual I thought I would just start a list. If you know of any I have missed let me know and I will add them.

There is the list, along with the "state" they leave the factory.

Drive-Away Door Locking – On
Auto-Relocking – Off
Alarm Error audible signal – On
Panic Alarm on Fob – Off
Passive Arming – Off
Mirror Dip When Reversing – Off
Daylight Running Lights - Off (except Canada)

Global Closing?? – Off?

I couldn't find Global Closing in the owners manual via keyfob, but I have read about the feature here on the forum.

I think you can turn on/off the audible alarm arming.. Mine is currently set to just flash the lights.. which I hate because I have to look at the vehicle to make sure it locked..

Default Drop Down Mirrors

Try this,

Put your car in reverse. Keeping your foot on the brake, reset the passenger mirror to the position you would like it to "drop" to, then push your "memory" button for your seat settings...

Place the car into drive and the mirror should return to its previous position. Go back into reverse and the mirror should drop...

Anyway, that is how my XK is set up. Might work in your Jaguar...

That is listed in the owners manual as a dealer changeable option. The dealer can change that when your car is hooked up to the computer.

I think the deal is not about what is right or wrong but the way we are told or forced to do it.
I turned off the seat belt warnings not because I do not wear a seat belt but because I dont need the light and chime to warn me, same deal on the door auto-lock drive-off feature, great for kids not so much grumpy adults.

I turned off the seat belt warnings not because I do not wear a seat belt but because

Here in NH we do not have a helmet or seatbelt law for those over 18 years old.
The volunteer compliance is high in spite of no law.
Perhaps there is something to having no law on the books.

Frank M and DB6, i agree with you totally! voluntary helmet law is also here in texas, and as a motorcyclist, i CHOOSE when to wear one or not wear one. i guess it's same as with the seatbelt. i do use it, but i want to CHOOSE when i use it, not be "chimed (chided) to death" until the latch of the seatbelt is engaged! good grief! i grew up with cars with NO seat belts even installed!

Back on topic, I am taking my XJ into the dealer Thursday, where I will be sitting down the with tech going through all options available. I'll update the list when I am done.

This thread was enough to get me to sign up.

I now know that I can ask the dealer to turn off two of the most annoying "features" of an otherwise almost-perfect automobile: the passenger mirror reverse dip and the auto-lock.

Looks like the only one I can't fix is the default "ON" for the proximity alarm; I'm going to wear out that button.

Thanks for the information.

I had the XJR in for hoses and belts (~60,000 miles, but it developed a leak).

While it was in there I had them change what settings I could. It is much more pleasant use, now. The annoying and distracting mirror dip is gone and when I back out of the garage, I can open the passenger door for my wife with less hassle.

As an aside, I had a new 2011 XJ8 for a few days during the work, and that convinced me that I never, ever, want one. It's much too cramped inside, the console switches are cheap and flimsy, the doors are hard to reach to close, ...

Where is the guide to the model year differences? For example: Did the DSC ever become less heavy-handed? Did any of the models before the chrome doodad was affixed to the sides (is the vent even functional?) have digital radio?

Thanks, again.

Did you ever get a complete list of configurable options?
