1947 Mk IV CL AZ
Wow, I didn't realise any Jaguar 1.5 litre cars made it to the USA !
The 1.5 (actually a 1.7) was the big seller after the Jaguar name was introduced to the market in 1935, and was the car that paid the rent, the larger-engined cars providing the profits. Without the smaller-engined cars to spread the cost of production, the cars with the larger engines would have been totally uneconomic. They were popular in the UK. The car is shorter than the 6-cylinder saloons as the 1.7 is a Standard Motor Company four cylinder, so it would not really be economic to lengthen the car to take the Jaguar 6-cylinder engines. These also were provided by the Standard Motor Company. Jaguar only made the bodies until the Mark 5 came out in the late 40s. The compamy was always run on an absolute shoe string by William Lyons.
A very interesting find !!!!

That sounds like an interesting find. The 1947 Mk IV models have a lot of character, but they can also require significant restoration work depending on condition. It would be worth checking the completeness of parts and structural integrity. Projects like that can be rewarding, though they often demand patience, time, and a realistic budget.
