i have a Mk7, but was entertaining the idea of fitting the front grill surround from a Mk9 on a mk7, is this possible?
Someone once said to me that the bonnet needs to be shorter, or to therefore get a bonnet from a mk9 and then the grill surround will fit.'.

The grill surround would be 3 pieces I believe , , 2 on the side of the grill and the top that's on the bonnet itself
The actual grill itself I take it will be the same on both cars.

That's a new one on me ! I wasn't aware there were any sheet metal changes on the Mark IX compared to the Mark VII.The Mark IX had a single piece front screen, yet the roof panel still shows the "V" for where the central pillar went. Jaguar were never one for spending money needlessly. However, with Jaguar you never know, unfortunately, so maybe check the part numbers of the two cars.

Other than that it is waiting for an expert to come on here or trying them yourself and sell them on on eBay if they don't fit !

yes your are right about that windscreen.
The mk7 having the split windscreen and the mk 8/9 a curved windscreen.

On my Mk7 , when the windscreen was removed (which are straight flat panels of glass), the metal perimeter of the windscreen on the car has a sharp "V" center right where the 2 panels of glass meet. You would think the curved windscreen of the mk8/9 would not fit, but my friend said to me that the curved windscreen will fit perfectly.
This is the same person who said the bonnet requires cutting on a mk7 to make the grill surround fit from a mk8/9.

I agree with you that jaguar was very careful in changing things in order to save money. Making new concrete stamps for a new bonnet sounds awfully expensive and time consuming.

We nee an expert to answer this question... can we fit a mk9 gril surround on a mk 7 front grill.?
