Are the front grilles for a 420 and a 420G the same? Thank you.

 

No they are not. The 420g have round grills and the 420 are rectangular. They are the same between left and right though.

I think they may be different but I had a hard time telling by looking at pictures. I believe what Riaan Hattingh is saying is the the grille surround are different but the grille assy (bars) LH & RH are the same. The best way to tell is by part numbers. I have the 420 parts book so here are the 420 numbers:

Radiator grille surround assy BD 29940
Radiator grille assy RH BD 29986
Radiator grille assy LH BD 29987

Maybe someone else can post the 420G part numbers

They are different part numbers. The 420G parts manual lists the following part numbers for the grill:

Grill & surround BD29381
Surround BD29383
Grill RH BD29411
Grill LH BD29412
