An unbelievably nice Mark 10 (420G). It only looks a few years old, yet it is 40 years old. From your photos, the condition appears to be really remarkable, and I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

I notice the E-type Coupe in the garage, I can only get an MG Midget in mine. Where on earth are you going to stable her ? These cars are massive !

Guys, its a 420G a much improved version of the MK10.

It looks so good because its been in NZ sun all its life except the last 18mths so not seen much rain\snow and salt on the roads.

I hope to bring it back to its former glory for personal use and to do a few weddings to help with its keep....

My '62 E is in the garage but very little working space around her but least its under cover. I plan to get a unit but want it local. As have another Jag on the way which I cant collect due to the weather...

Will do a post on the E later

Massive is an understatement..... Gargantuan :!:

Thanks for the compliments retromotors

A bit of Trivia

The Jaguar MK10 was built from 1961 - 1966
 MK10 3.8l 1961 - 1964
Production figures for the 3.8 litre
 13,382
------
 MK10 4.2l 1964 - 1966
Production figures for the 4.2 litre
 5,137 (this includes 18 limousines)
------
 420G 4.2l 1966 - 1970
Production figures for the 420G
 5,763 (this includes 24 limousines)
------

This obviously shows the 420G a much rarer car than the Mk10 it predessor

That really is a very nice example, and great to see it up on the moors. I still miss them, and any time I get over always spend time walking/driving them, or just snoozing behind a wall if it is warm enough.

Used to live at the base of Blackstone Edge.

So I got a few thinkgs going on with the 420G at the moment all the service parts have been ordered for a full service, also the front and rear mats are out I made a template and sent them off to a guy who said hed make me black rubber mats.

A set of new gaskets are on the way as rocker covers need coming off to sort oil leaks, all hoses will be replaced.

All the woods coming out and will be refurbed...

Seats are coming out leather being treated - cleaned and conditioner applied.

All carpets cleaned....

List is growing daily so will report back with updates over the xmas season....

How fast were you really going in that pic on the way home? I can't read your GPS, but I suspect it is about 70 mph based on your RPM's.

The good thing about Jaguars of this era and of the production quantity involved is they all used traditional trimming techniques. No unavailable mouldings and everything, (mostly !!) off the roll, like headlining and trim coverings. Leather is normally restorable. Looking at your pictures it all looks very familiar like my Mark 2 rebuild of 1981-87. Revarnishing the wood can be better farmed out to a specialist if you can afford it, as the old traditional varnishes seem very difficult to find nowadays.

I seem to have missed a couple of replies requesting updates apologies.

Fraser you are right re the interior trim it was all done by master craftsman and not robots and plastic moulding machines. Thats why I prefer classics over the modern stuff....

Back to my interior Ive recently taken delivery of new window rubbers and my beige headling and cinammon vynal which I had made to order.

My interior wood is gradually going off to a French Polisher 28 pieces gone so far - I found a local one man band who does about two car interiors a year in between his furniture work so I told him he could have it for about 3 months and I got a GOOD price

More updates soon .....
