my mark IX project
well here goes nothing. i got a phone call earlier this week from my grandpa that i am the lucky family member he has choosen to give his mark IX project to.
i have not seen it yet but from what he has told me all the parts to put this beauty back together are there including the grill, chrome trim, glass, and body panels. he also has the original interior. he said the body is in good condition and the glass is all good and intact.
the only downfall to this car is the original engine was grenaded by the original owner. it has since been replaced by 292 inline 6 gm motor. since i am not going for a 100 point numbers matching car this is not a real concern of mine at this point. i plan to take the 600 mile trip to pick up all the fragile parts like the crome trim and small parts that he has acquired over the years in the next month or so and get my first look and this beautiful car, and of course snap some pics of it.
i will post pics and update as soon as i get them.

well i made the trip to take a look at my new jag. it was everything i expected and more. the body is in really good shape, the chrome trim is all there, and the glass is all in tact including a spare windshield and rear window. not to mention an extra set of fenders, and other misc. piece. to my surprise he still had the original engine and transmission sitting there on the floor.
i took it along even though it is missing the accessories such as alternator, starter, intake, exhaust, and carbs.
I will tear the motor down and see if it is repairable or not, and base my powerplant decision on my findings.
i will post some pictures when i get back home.

Brad,
Just posting to bookmark the thread so I get notification of your updates.
Turned out better than you were expecting. Looking forward to seeing pics of the 'as is condition' and as the project progresses.
Good luck.

It looks like she's all there! Congrats on a great project. The interior looks like a previous restoration has already been done? Interesting to see the red steering wheel, is that original like that? Anyway, I am also embroiled in a project on a 1950 MKV. Here is a link to what I have going on;

ya i even have some extra parts like fenders, bumpers, engine, trans. i am gonna sell them to help fund the restoration. as far as the steering wheel i am not sure about if its original, but i like it and i am thinking red leather interior will look amazing.

This black or white colour was probably only limited by the manufacturing techniques at the time.
The red one looks fine and would certainly complement a red interior.
