Default Need some tires

I've finally worn out the tires on my 1966 Mark X and would like to get a replacement with more "meat" than the original spec 205/70R14. Any suggestions? Also, anyone have the full specs on an alignment. The manual doesn't have much information.

I dont know if a wider tire would ride better. Perhaps a taller tire ie. 75 aspect ratio.
A lot of people go to a 15" XJ6 wheel with corresponding rubber.
Can understand you staying with the original wheels though.
Thats a damn nice MK X!

Without upgrading wheels you should be able to go to at least one size wider like a 215 or possibly a 225. Since your rear fender is like my 3.8s I am sure the 215 will fit but the 225 may rub without a custom wheel offset. The car will handle better with more meat. If you have money you can upgrade to a three piece wheel and get a custom offset. If you are willing to go to a wider wheel, go to a quality tire/wheel store or rent the offset tool and then you can measure what is the maximum width and offset. As an example my 3.8s Jaguar had stock 175 wide tires but since my goal was more custom, I measured the wheel spacing with that tool and found that a 17" x 8.5" wheel and I am running 245 wide tires with no rubbing at all.

A taller wheel will enable you to run a lower profile tire which will not flex as much and handle better yet you can keep. If you run a lower profile on the stock wheel the height will be a bit different which is ok but your speedometer will be slightly off. A wider tire will give better handling but equally important is the quality of the tire/tread. Going to more performance brands and performance model tires will greatly improve things.
