Default Reboring 3.4 to 3.8 litre

Hi, I am restoring '52 Mark VII and want to bore to 3.8 litre.
I intend using the 87mm pistons. Do I need to change the head?
Also advice what all I need to change, Valves, bearings etc.
Regards,
Dev

I would not recommend doing what you propose. When the 3.4 was a current engine in the 50s, some people did what you propose and found the block cracked between the bores due to not enough metal being left after boring.

It was for this reason that Jaguar used thin steel liners when they developed the 3.8 litre engine, and some changes were made to the block as well.
