Default Tensioners

An attorney who shows cars for kicks came and looked at my car on Monday. He told me he ran the carfax that morning and it showed the tensioners were replaced!
Can anyone on here confirm that?

Ok, I got it!
Just ran the free carfax and this dope lawyer thought the tensioners were replaced in 2014. It was a drive belt tensioner!
Nevertheless, this is truly a great car and I'm offering it at a great price.

Let's see, for $3000 what do you think?
Some but not all pictures are recent.
The drivers seat is pretty much a disaster area, which means fix it or cover it.
Both rear quarters have clear coat failure but all the other paint is EXCELLENT! This could be addressed inexpensively depending on what you want.
What's up with the bearing? it's seized, which means the car will have to be towed from my location if you buy it.

Did I mention the most obvious factor(s)?
This is a green car with a coffee interior.
Very rare situation.
That's why I bought it and also why I'm perfectly willing to keep it.
Leaning that way very strongly in fact.

Default Thanks for the update

All I wanted to know was what the current condition of the car is. And so now there it is

We already have 2 emerald green over coffee coupes here now that both need paint work and some interior repair.

I was hoping this one had great paint and great interior (like the listing here originally seem to imply) which would save us having to get into that on either of the other cars.

I'm glad that all is clear now....

Good luck with your sale

Come on, man... Sarah Huckabee would have trouble reconciling the statements in this post.

This is all very interesting but here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to put a sign on it tomorrow!

We'll see what happens.

This car has not been "monkeyed" with, it still has the dome plastic covers over the struts.

Two points:

I have my doubts about the entire plastic tensioner issue: is it a myth or reality?
(Has ANYONE on here had their engine explode or "destroy itself" as a result thereof?)

Point/Question number two, is the price I'm asking for this car too high?

Your Price is fair. If you were closer to Texas. I'd buy it. The plastic tensions will destruct and destroy the top end of the motor. Metal tensioners are a must do.

If someone doesn't have the tools/equipment/patience to change the bearing, XJ8's are being parted in every major city in the US and an upright can be purchased for less than $100 and swapped in in less than 2 hours.

Even though I have a Trailer with a winch (and have drug a 1954 Chrysler Imperial with 4 locked brakes in and out of it), I would show up with a jack, Jackstands, tools and an upright and drive it away 3 hours later.

Well that's right.

Nobody is going to lose money buying this car.

YES - my engine was rebuilt last year following catastrophic failure of the plastic tensioners. The only reason I hadn't replaced sooner is I believed the mechanic who told me they were previously upgraded to Gen 3's.

Ok, so that's one.

I'm selling this car and don't actually know what's in it. The only way to tell for sure is to open it up and take a look.

What I do know is right now the engine is running just fine.

I'm also dealing with unscrupulous people trying to-- shall we say-- steal this work of art on wheels.

Don't worry I'm up to the task.

It's kind of interesting, I don't really care if anyone buys this car or not.
It's on Facebook
It's here!
It's on Craigslist.
It's on the other Jaguar Forum too!
It's also on CarGurus.com and Cars.com
Not to mention Offer Up and Letgo.

If you have $3000 step up to the plate.
