I did a Uship quote and it is between $650 and $700. Me driving out there won't be much less. The largest problem is my mechanic quoted me 15 hours labor to fix it even though the part itself is only $75. Sorry for the confusion as I should have checked first what it would cost to fix.
Have you thought about putting it on ebay? Maybe a used car lot guy would buy, fix it for peanuts, and resell.

I really don't want to deal with selling a car on eBay - too many bad tales heard of that.
I may post it on Craigslist tonight just for the hell of it - but I suspect it's doomed to be scrapped.
I will post a final update with its disposition.
Oh - and it's a 2.5 liter - not a 3.0. I looked really hard before buying this car, found ONE 3.0 / manual and ... it was gone hours after being advertised.
