Car looks great. I keep coming back and drooling. I want a 2010+ facelift, but this looks really tempting.
I'm not really in a place to buy right now, so just fantasizing about it....
How do you like the J-gate? My XF has the rising shifter ***, which seems so normal to me now. Does the car have any needs?

Thank you. One of the reasons I bought this one is the JGate shifter. Its a Jag, it should have a JGate!
The car runs/drives/sounds/feels perfect. I noted the other day the drivers door window tint had crinkled along the top edge. Probably due to the indexing window. I cut the strip of crinkled bit off, looks fine but it could be replaced.
Just dropping by to comment on how beautiful the car is, some lucky person will take ownership of it I hope. I don't have anymore room myself after buying the XF, only a 3 car garage and it's currently full

Thank you! I sought out the ‘09 Portfolio when I was looking for a XKR. Its a great car and it certainly seems I will be lucky enough to keep possession of it.

I literally talked to my GF this weekend about my wishes to expand our garage. Unfortunately I live in the city and although I do have a double lot and detached garage; the way our house is situated on the property wouldn't allow for a usable expansion, So, we're putting in an offer on the house adjacent to us and hopefully they accept the offer so we can knock the house down and add a new garage.

Buy a house to knock it down and build a garage. My hats off to you Sir!! Wow.

Yeah, its quite complicated. I own a beautiful Victorian on a double lot in a wonderful town and in a amazing location. I have a detached 2 car and an attached 1 car garage on my property. I recently got the 2016 XF and put my old car in the 1 car attached because we are in the process of adopting a teen. If he agrees to the adoption (he hasnt met us yet and I'm not telling him about the car) and everything gets finalized I plan on surprising him with his first car if he gets his license. So I have a reason to keep my old car, but if I were to build a new garage on my property I couldn't quite build a 3 or 4 car garage with the way my property is laid out. So the neighbor I have has done ok fixing up her yard after we moved in but the house and property itself is, uh, shall we say not quite up to par with the surrounding properties. (I could literally buy her house for less than 40k!)
I've already made inquiries and unfortunately I would have to combine my plot and hers giving me 3 plots if I want to knock down her house because this property is zoned residential. That means I'll also own over half of my side of the street and my property taxes because of that are going to double. I'm ok with most of this but I'm trying to figure out how to orientate that garage for best access and all of that if I go through with it. We get a lot of snow here and have parking restrictions during the winter months so he couldn't park the car out on the street. My drive way is large enough but with my work schedule and his potential school schedule plus my GF needing to drive our 5 year old to school in the morning I can't have that car parked in my driveway.
So yeah, the only option I have for acquiring another vehicle (if I want it stored on my own property) is to either buy the adjacent property, move to the country or sell my old car. Obviously the least expensive option is to sell my old car, but I was a teen who had to work fast food to afford my first beater and although it got me around it didn't help my dating life much. I'm in the position to help this kid/young man and honestly it was one of the reasons I acquired the x260 in the first place, even if I didn't give him a car; we have no place for him to park one on our property at the moment if I were to buy another myself.
First priority is allowing him to have his own car, second priority would be another car for myself but with that comes a garage; so yeah, bulldozers look to be in my future!
Have you considered all the possibilities to expand your existing 2-car detached garage? Most people would build a wider footprint, but you can go in three other directions. It just takes money - probably less than buying the adjacent property and building a new garage.

You know, I did this whole mockup of my property, wrote this really nice paragraph to explain the situation and right at the end of it all when I was thinking of how I was going to place a garage for easy access on that new property it hit me. Sometimes the solution comes when you look at things from a different perspective or in my case when you stop trying to preserve something you'll gain back. I recently bought a shed to store all of my power equipment and placed that directly behind my garage, its 12 x 12 and still gives me about 10 feet before I hit my neighbors property. Meaning I could extend my garage back at least 20 feet and install a door from the alley if I get rid of the shed, install a small 6 foot rolling door on the "bump out" portion of the garage so I can have easy access to that power equipment again.
It's not the garage I was envisioning when I was going through the option of purchasing the adjoining property, but it'll cost nearly 1/10th the price

You’ll have plenty of money to buy my car!

That is very true! Also why I'm so excited I found a solution that could work. In the process still of getting quotes and a timeline for completion during this season, it's about to be winter here so it should cost less than what I normally would expect.

and take twice as long (or more) to complete!
Sorry to be a buzz kill!

367 miles in the XKR yesterday on wonderful backroads between Charlotte and Myrtle Beach and back. What an amazing car, smooth, solid, refined, great handling and hit 125 mph with ease. Even my wife remarked how smooth and stable the car was at that speed. Great Thanksgiving with friends, hope the rest of you in North America had a great day yesterday as well.
