Description:

Great condition 2007 silver XK convertible. Autocheck shows two minor accidents but clean title. Car is currently stored in covered parking at a friends condo in Buckhead.

Car had a full service at dealer last year - only issue noted was seat calibration and a weak battery - so I purchased a new one and then had the seats re-calibrated at the dealer. Unfortunately where i have it parked does not have power for a battery maintainer and most of these cars have issues with slow battery drains. That is the only problem I know of with the car, apart from discolored headlights that I have not had the opportunity to get polished. As the car came from Chicago, the nav disk is not the east coast one. Everything works great and the car has no codes or warning lights. The top is in great condition with no sign of any glass separation (known issue with this model) I also have a brand new car cover (never used as the car lives in covered parking).

At one point last summer I thought I had a cooling issue with the car as the fan kept running after the car was turned off even though the temps were fine. I looked into replacing the water pump and thermostat housing parts that can age, but in the end they did a full test of the system and said the temps were normal and that the fan staying on for a little while was normal too.

We live in the USVI and purchased this car from previous owner up in north Chicago suburbs. We wanted to keep a car in the mainland for when we visit grandkids and family. Apart from the great roadtrip down from IL to GA, we only managed three other trips last year, including a great cruise of the GA/SC coast. Covid has really messed with our plans for this year and we've been unable to come up at all. We can't predict the future either and aren't taking any unnecessary health risks. Consequently I suspended the GA reg and full coverage back when the lockdown occurred. Unfortunately, my friend needs his extra parking spot so I either need to consider selling or move it to paid storage in the near future.

Looking for fair reasonable offer OR a trade deal for a light colored LR4 that I would ship down here to replace my aging LRD2. I'd need to reinstate insurance/registration prior to any test drives so would want to have some sort of agreed offer on the table first. Also don't want to put my friend out in showing the car needlessly. I hope you understand all this and appreciate you taking the time to review the listing.

Thanks,
Scott.

Why do you want to replace your D2?

My 2003 LRD2 has been a champion. I've replaced ball joints, wheel hub, coil packs, wires, plugs, thermostat (180), all fluids, bumpers and even the parking brake cable (due to a bad ground), and probably more I've forgotten. Only real issue is no CDL and the exterior plastics (a pillars etc) are all crumbling. I think the visibility is great and performance is adequate - except for the 11-12mpg for island living. I'd like to upgrade to an LR4 if that's the only option, but quite happy with my LRD2.

If anyone get's this far, I paid 12,500 for the XK and got what I thought was a very good deal. I'm not expecting all of that from a sale but market prices aren't far off. I'm not desperate to sell and will move it to storage by November if nothing else.

PRICE - Will accept 11k offer - no trades.

Having the slow battery drain looked at and headlights polished soon and price will go up accordingly.

Thanks,
Scott.

UPDATE:
We've decided to sell. Got vaccinated and made our first trip stateside. Had a great road trip to see all the grandkids. SC/NC/TN/KY and of course back to GA. The XK performed fantastic as always - a true grand tourer. Will be sad to see her go but I don't have a convenient storage option in ATL any more so car is currently in the garage at a friends home near Greenville, SC. Not exactly convenient for our fly-in/drive trips so It's back to rental cars unfortunately. Car now has almost 86,000 miles but I have had the headlights polished and she looks great. She was on a battery maintainer for the year we didn't use her and started right up.

I will be back in Atlanta with the car in May and she will be sold (still has GA tags/reg). This is a chance to get a good deal on a nice driver without paying dealer markup. Can show car 5/13 only (Buckhead area) and you must be ready to buy. Otherwise, afternoon of Friday 5/14 I'm dropping her off at a local broker - no exceptions as I fly back out the following Monday. Happy to answer any questions.

PS. If you're near Greenville/Anderson/Keowee SC and are interested I could show it the morning of 5/13 before I drive down to Atlanta. Let me know.

Scott - is your last post still valid. I am Atlanta based and have been looking for a 2007 - 2010 XK for several months. Prefer lower mileage but your posts present a maintained and reliable car. Thanks for info, Andy

Yes, still valid. I will be flying up next week Wednesday and driving the car back from SC to GA on Thursday morning (5/13). I will be dropping it off at the consigner on Friday afternoon so that's the small window of opportunity. Email me - stxscott at yahoo - and I can provide my phone number to answer any questions you may have. Depending on where you are I can come to your location.
