Description:

I'm listing a 2003 XJ Super V8 that I bought last year. I ended up winning on an auction site in November 2020. The car has had the head unit replaced with an android head unit and the CATS suspension has been replaced with normal shocks all around. These were done by the previous owner.

Since purchasing the vehicle I've repaired or replaced a lot of things...

These are thing I've fixed from December 2020 and January 2021:

  • Both drive belts
  • Valve Cover Gaskets and Covers
  • Front Shocks
  • Front Shock Mounts
  • Front and Rear brake pads and rotors
  • Motor Mounts
  • Transmission replaced with a ~80k mile transmission
  • Rear Main Seal Replacement
  • Replaced missing exhaust heat shields
  • Oil Change
  • Air Filter Change
I also have a complete spare set of wood trim that's not cracked and also a set of like new door sills that will be included.

Overall it's a clean car for it's age. It's a great car you can cruise in or daily drive now that it's all sorted. You can see more pictures on Cars and Bids, I didn't know if posting a link would be ok or not.

I'm selling it because I want a C5 Z06 now.

Yes, there is some rust on the under carriage. The pictures on C&B are accurate.

TTT, also this is OBO. If you're interested just make an offer. Thought I'd list it here before going online to an auction site.

Hello, what was the issue with the original transmission? I've been leaning towards a Super V8 or XJR due to the more robust MB transmission after reading about the drum/trans issues on the standard XJ8. How difficult was it to replace the rear main seal? That's a nightmare on some models.

Thank you for being upfront about the rust. Could you please send me a few pictures of the damage?

I had a shop do the transmission replacement. The rear main was leaking but the mechanic recommended to just do it since the transmission is going to be out anyway. It was actually really cheap.

The transmission gave an error code of incorrect gear ratio. It was slipping hard and would barley make it to 15mph and then the gas pedal wouldn't do anything after about 0.1 miles. It was all so random too. There were no signs of any problems and then all of sudden it happened.

Do you want pictures of the wheel well damage? I can't really get under the car right now as I don't have a lift or ramps.

Either way, I'll try to get some pictures today.
