And the work begins...
Are you doing any of the work yourself, like detail work ?
The little things like the wiper system, steering box, generator _ they don't necessarily need repair, but they need to be taken apart, checked over, detailed and put back together with new parts and gaskets (if necessary)
Wood looks in good restorable condition _ no peeling veneer. I like working on car wood with no peeling veneer _ veneer repair/replacement is always a pain...
New carpets and leather obviously.
The engine is very noisy, sound like most of the noise is coming from the valve train.

Keep a documented work tablet on progress. Most "Collision Centers" do not know how a Jag is manufactured. A whole different ball of wax. These are the first cars with monoque body construction with a lot of inner panels behind panels. Engines are not so hard or suspensions. I have a MK1 that represents that from even 20 yrs. ago an now is just a parts car due to the inadequate work.

Thanks everyone.
Joe, you didn't get to be a US Army Captain by having no talent, so don't put yourself down. From what I read in the S type Register Forum, you DO have talent.
By the way, the Florida guy with the White S type is going to be selling his 5 wire wheels, he bought new ones because he didn't want to polish the "old" ones.

@Jose.
Thanks, but a Marine Corps Captain....but I appreciate the comments and faith.
Do you know what condition the wheels are in and how much he is asking? I can polish if that all that is required. Email me.
Thanks,
Joe

He is waiting for the new wheels to arrive, already has new knockoffs, so the older wheels come with knockoffs too. I'll e-mail you as soon as he has them available. then you can contact with him.
did you ever get the Handbook from David and what condition is it?
Great thanks.....
Got the handbook. I has many pages with writing on them. So for example, he had an automatic so he "Xed" through the manual trans section. But, I wanted the information and that is all there and readable so I am happy. Thanks.
Miss Kitty went to the shop this a.m., so I am S-Type-less, like you.
Are the wheels from the one recently won on EBay? The white one for $16k? If so, I probably would not be interested because this is on the original EBay listing: "She is sitting on a earlier set of Series II wire wheels that are not period correct or in par with the condition of the car." I also do not like the knockoffs.

Visited Miss Kitty today at the shop. The engine bay is being gutted and the engine and tranny should be out by the end of the week.
Well, lots of gluing, sanding, painting, pasting, etc. has been done to bring this 50-year old Jaguar Tool Box back to life. It is now complete (one missing slot is supposed to be empty). The final paint and black oxide has been applied and the tool kit is ready for safekeeping.

I had a few dents in the top kit lid, so I applied a layer of paint, then etched it, repainted it, and blended in the dents so they are invisible.

A lot of work completed last week on Miss Kitty. Engine, transmission, drive shaft, exhaust system, front and rear suspensions, and other engine bay goodies were removed. Now the degreasing, blasting, and cleaning begins tomorrow.

JeffR1....That is correct. At this time, we are only replacing the outer sills, jacking points, and front crossmember. We will get the complete picture once the walnut shell media blasting takes place.
Spent all day today degreasing, scrubbing, and power washing the engine, transmission, and front and rear suspensions. Looking good.

Removed valve covers, water outlet pipe, front cover and breather assembly, manifolds, and inlet manifold. The manifolds will be cleaned and be ceramic power coated. The other aluminum parts will go under the buff motor for a complete cleaning and polishing. More of Miss Kitty's front end has been taken apart.

I had my under-car pipes coated by Jet-Hot Coatings in my XJ-6. They coat the inside and outside with their "Sterling" coating which lowers the exhaust temperature and improves exhaust flow. Their coatings come in flat and gloss black also.
Removed, cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted the Brake Vacuum Servo Pipe, Starting Pipe Assembly, and the Left and Right Hand Manifold Starting Pipe Assemblies.
