See this thread.
I went with Michelin XAS 180R15's from Longstone tires in the UK

205's are getting a bit wide, they come pretty close to the rear fender skirt.
185/65 R15's make the car sit to low IMO.
There is also 165/80 R15's which are Volkswagen Beatle tires, but they still not tall enough, but better then 185/65.

And if you want a white wall there are 195/75 R15's.
You're in the US, so there are also 185/80 R15's too that will look very good.

Dougal in the Jag video doesn't think too much about the Vredestein's though, but to each his own.

Here's another thread on the subject, Dougal from Longstone tires is pushing his opinion there.

There are also these in a white wall from Coker tire.

I also think there is a white wall (thin) in a 185/80 R15, but I can't think of who makes them at the moment _ I know they're out if the US.

Jeff, I feel the same way......white wall are out.
I have 205/70 on my Etype with 6 inch offsets, that looks good and racy.
Will look into them, thanks.

If you're going to go with black wall and you have the budget for it, the Michelin XAS will look great on there.
Nice narrow period tires, they are pretty much the same height as the original Bias Ply of 6.40/15's
The sidewalls too are nice and plain, not allot of modern logos and huge printing.

Set of 4 180HR15 Michelin XAS | Longstone Tyres

The 205's look good on the E Type because of it's lower stance and more modern appearance when compared to the Mark 2.
IMO, I think they are just too wide for the Mark 2, but what ever makes you happy. :-)

Lucas Tire is the other place I was trying to remember.

Not so expensive as the XAS and will still look good.
