Default 1968 Jaguar 420 chassis mount separated

Hi Folks
I should have supported the front crossmember after removing the wheels and suspension, question is (the mount is in good condition albeit separated)can they be glued(superglue)or is it possible to rebond with heat.I dont know but I would think back in the day they would have used heat before some of the hi tech adhesives that we have today, any advise most welcome.

Best Wishes Dan Gardner

Buy a new one. A bad batch came out and Cass had his fan go through his radiator. Vulcanizing was poor.

The mounts are cheap to replace and I now check and replace mine on a regular basis. As Glyn referred to I had an engine mount separate on tick over. The fan on the front of the engine destroyed my radiator as the engine moved sideways by only half an inch.
The front cross member mounts are £26 each to replace at SNG. https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#...ush%20front%60
Engine mounts you can get for as little as £11 each compared to over £500 for the radiator to be re cored. https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#...ine%20mount%60

Hi Cass
Thanks for sharing your experience .I had no idea how vunerable these engines were to movement.I hope they gave you some compensation.

Best wishes Dan Gardner

The front mounts of the front subframe have always been short lived, but fortunately they don't usually fail catastrophically unlike the engine mounts.

Cars with the front engine stabilisers don't suffer this issue. i.e. 3 stabiliser cars. 1 X Rear, 2 X Front. The fan won't hit the radiator. They were done away with to save money.
