I have just started work on "restoring" and converting my 240 to 3.4 Mk2 spec, it will be to daily driver spec rather than a show car, I bought the 1968 240 from ebay 6 years ago after it had been sitting in a lockup garage in Bristol for the previous 31 years, the previous owners bought it in 1979 and then relocated overseas so the car was left in the garage and the house rented out, fast forwards 31 years........... everything that could seize up was, brake cylinders, engine, waterpump, etc. every rubber part was petrified but it was hardly rusty, well for a Mk2, I bought a rusty but running well 3.4 manual series 3 XJ6 a couple of years ago, sold the LT77 gearbox to cover the cost and intend to fit the complete engine and refit the MOD gearbox, I have been buying good chrome and soem repair panels on ebay for the last 5 years, I also have a leather interior and a set of wires, and fat bumpers, as it will be a long term project I have put it up on stands. up on stands only one rusty jacking point only surface rust! sills to die for filler in rust from 1979! other side proper stands!
