One more question before I put my engine back into the 340. I'm going in from the top. I've read all the posts about which one is the preferred method. .My question is the engine stabilizer fouling on the throttle cross bar. Is it possible while setting the engine in place to snake the stabilizer between the bar and firewall or should I attempt to install stabilizer after the engine is in? As always thanks for all the help I've received.
This is how we put the engine in. And then popped the vertical stabaliser rod in afterward with the one horizontal bolt at the bellhousing brackets & all the top bits required to attach to the scuttle/firewall bracket ~ both below it & above it. We had no difficulty other than working in the confined space. It was certainly not a major problem.
We had one under the car controlling the tail shaft from bashing the newly painted scuttle ~ one driving the hoist & me acting as ballast on the hoist to ensure no tipping. We were at the hoist's limit. No pictures at 45 degrees. We were all busy.
BTW ~ The car was standing raised on jack-stands & not it's wheels. Extra space under the vehicle is a big help coming in from the top. We had a full hoist available but no engine crane that would work with it.
During assembly. Many things still to do & coil changed etc, (Don't consider all correct yet. It's not) Stickers still to be attached. Wiper bottle orientation wrong, breather still to be attached with rubber elbows & correct clamps etc. Excuse dust everywhere. This is Africa.
