Default Airing Out Engine Compartment

Okay..this maybe one for the '****' files..

But after I get back to the garage from a long hot run with A/C on in 90+ degree outside temps..I pull in and pop the bonnet (Hood) and turn a box fan on, pointed at the general area of the engine bay..

I got this idea from an old retired Ford-MO-CO engineer next door..He said doing this is the best thing for long life of the engine area components there is..I suspect he's talking about all the hoses and plastic stuff..But what the hell, it ain't hurting anything...it cools off everything nicely and soon and doesn't let the engine heat bake the underside of the Bonnet(Hood)

I do the same after driving my over-boosted twin turbo RX-7 on a warm/hot day. The under-hood temps on the twin turbo can be extreme so, I am sure that it helps.

We do the same with all of our vehicles - as well as run a dehumidifier. It can make a huge difference in the garage temperature too.

Pfft. That ain't nothin'. I have four under hood sprayers and when I come home I hook up the garden hose to a special fitting on the front of the car and spray until the block temp is under 100 degrees.
