This is a good engine at a great price but I don't think this is a good candidate for a swap into an XK8/R for several reasons:

1. There is no swap kit for this that I am aware of. The Chevy engine swap kits for XK8 use the modern LS series engines, this is a Chevy small block (as in the real small block that dates to the 50s). This means it will have to be a complete custom job to install.

2. This engine uses a cast iron block and cast iron heads. As such it will probably weigh about 200 lbs more than a jag V8. An aluminum Chevy LS1 engine would weigh about the same as a jag V8.

3. I think this is the TBI engine used in the late 80s and early 90s Chevy pick up trucks. If so it is a torque monster but tops out at around 4k RPM. This will provide neck snapping torque but will only have about 200 hp maximum. With the right gearing it would be great around town and off the line but not the kind of engine you would typically prefer in a sports cars on the open road.

 

Agree with the above. GM Gen 1 SBC crate engines are a dime a dozen. Not the best choice for a LUMP.
