Default 3.8 S Type Values

When I was driving my Mk2 the other day, I was approached by a nice couple interested in selling their 1968 3.8S. They've owned it 20 years and appears to be rust free. Repainted a fewe years ago and a good paint job but some chips and scratches. Front seats reupholstered in leather, rear seats original and nice. It's been sitting a bit so the brake pedal is hard but they work and the automatic is a little slow shifting, though the car died shortly into the test drive. It suffers from vapor lock lately and has stalled and refused to start few times before. The interior wood is good, but some of the dash could use refinishing. Will need tires. Overall a nice looking and well maintained car. I know the Mk 2 values but am having difficulty finding any info on recent sales or values. Any help would be appreciated

"S"-Types For Sale (or Wanted) - THE INTERNATIONAL JAGUAR "S"-TYPE REGISTER FORUM

Some high values have been attained in Europe over the last 2 years.

US value of that car if rust free probably low $20,000's region.

This car fetched $21,000 at auction.

It's all about condition. Values vary by country.

Hi Lyonsfin,
Try this site

SALOON Data - Search Results - Jaguar, Daimler classic saloon (sedan) information, articles, photos and register

You can search by country, model, RHD or LHD, etc. I find it is a great site sometimes there are sold prices, Ebay results. I find it very helpful.

Cheers,
Bob

I sold mine for $11k to a fellow who resold it in the SF bay area for $18. Solid unrestored original, MOD, wire wheels. Ready for an engine rebuild but running fine.
