Default Car at Jaguar Doctor for mysterious transmission issues.

One thing I know nothing about, and am fearful of, is auto transmissions. I have a problem. When hot, and been driven, car starts in 1st, changes properly, kickdown works and the car goes like crazy (spins wheels into second gear). But......even if I warm the engine up by idling to normal temperature, until l I drive around the block several times, the car is like a dog - takes off in second gear, engine no power and won't go faster than 15mph - it gradually sorts itself out. Dr Jaguar thinks may be sticky Governor - my endless Dr Google research indicates perhaps it is the trans oil pump. Anyway, I guess I will find out tomorrow!!!! Has anyone else had this issue??

Any luck on the transmission? I had an old doge that wouldn't shift out of first. The governor was stuck and caused that problem. My other current project is an 85 VW Westfalia camper. The transmission on that was having trouble shifting when it was cold, similar to yours. I would shift but well above the RPM's it was supposed to. I had a spare Transmission that I swapped it out with and that solved my problem. Sold the original to a transmission rebuilder who said it needed to be rebuilt which I kind of figured.
