I wonder what else is wrong? ~ Sorting the wheat from the chaff can be a challenge on the internet. Anyway I got the quarter of an inch from the top crimping centered between the terminals, machine applied correct that we were looking for. Usually a very good forum.

I'm going to mark the above as incorrect but leave the post. (Duly marked) Then we maintain context.

Thanks for pointing this out. We do not wish to perpetuate BS.

The ballast resistor was usually BR3 and external to the BA coil. I think these were often used in very early transistorised switching ignition systems that were developed by Lucas.
