connecting rod direction 1968 340
Hi Folks,
Pistons are marked, thankfully, which way are the matching #'s supposed to face on the connecting rods....intake or exhaust side of block? Same side as main #'s? (Basket case rebuild).
Thanks,
Seann

I don't know any thing about the numbers on the rods (it's been a few years since I rebuilt my engine), but when the machine shop did mine they weighed all the moving parts and made sure that all was with in very close tolerance.
What Jaguar did was weigh pistons and rods and grouped match sets together, but I don't know what the tolerances were for Jaguar, but I bet it could be made closer at a machine shop.
As I'm sure you know with a long stroke engine having the pistons/rods all weighing the same is very important.
