Default Cylinder head

Hi there, I have a brand new cylinder head with rocker box covers complete with new camshafts, these are all genuine jaguar parts and the cylinder head is dated 1965. I would like some help determine if it is for a 4.2l or a 3.8l straight 6, these are my grandfathers parts and he has past away unfortunately. If someone knew the part numbers to distinguish them, Many thanks.

charlie

It has the old style intake ports on it and water jacket, so it was never meant to go on a 4.2 litre engine.
It may bolt on the 4.2 litre block, but the intake manifold won't match at all.

on one of the front or rear slopes inside the valleys where the spark plugs are, there should be a number which shows the compression ratio, get a picture of that number, it probably is a 3.8 liter head.

Thanks for the reply and the only number present on the cylinder head valley is 'UK572' there are no compression ratios but is is a B type head.

Regards, Charlie

can you send me full pictures of it? the pictures you posted are cut at the points where some detail is needed to confirm. I'll send you my e-mail by PM.

Also, I do not see the camshafts, they are not installed, correct? or the cam covers?

thanks.
