Default Daimler DS420 -83 Rear speakers

Hi!

In the rear doors there are speakers installed but I cant find the other end of the cables. I thought I would find them when removing the head unit but I did not. Any ideas where they are? Checked the service manual but found no info about the matter.

/Dave

Were these original fitment? Can you see the wires running into the B Pillar in the rear doorjam? If so you should find them behind the front left & right lower kick panels (held on by external screws.) & should be able to trace them from there to their behind dash location. If original they will run down the B pillars into the sills & appear behind the kick panels.

On my 1990 the wires for the speakers run along the centre driveshaft tunnel up to the radio. I have a cocktail cabinet and the wires got to that, then to the rear doors.

Are they original fit? Do they run under the carpet felt? How do they bridge the doorjam?

Yes, they are factory fitted. From the centre of the car they run under the division base ( which doesn't go to the floor) to the B pillar.

So they go into the base of the B Pillar & then up the B pillar to a covered jumper point to the door?

The DS 420 was built in so many forms with varying interiors & rear door treatment that they are almost handbuilt cars. My friends one is obviously different & I don't know the year.

I assume that's the route. It's all covered in carpet and I wasn't going to pull it off!

The DS420's are handbuilt cars! Under the rear seat the two men who built my car (Eddie and Frank) signed it and dated when it was completed.
