Default Door Locks

Hello everyone, I'm looking into changing the lock barrel on my 62 MK2 3.8 but I have a couple of questions. Whats the best way of removing the lock barrels; do you need to remove the door handles in order to remove the lock barrels? Also, are the lock barrels "programmable" to set-up with another set of keys?

Thanks,

-Ernie

The lock barrel and push-button is bolted to the back of the chrome door handle. However, I think you can leave the handle in position. The lock mechanism can be removed once the door cover is removed. Lock technology was primitive when these were designed, and to match another set of keys you need the appropriate tumblers for the barrel. The barrel is easily removed once you've got the mechanism on the bench. I have to say it would be easier just to replace the lock barrels which come with a new set of keys.

Thanks. I think Im going to go with a new set of keys. The key for the glove box is also missing so ordering a new set would be best.
