Default Door Needed

I知 looking for a front right hand door, just the shell actually. My car is a 1962 MK2. I知 not having any luck on-line. If anyone has a part or an idea of where I could find one I壇 greatly appreciate it.

if the MK-2 doors are the same as in the S type (1963-1968), there are members of the S type Register giving away parts and cars.

Join the S type Register and then look in the Forum "Parts For Sale" listings.

Jose I think the front doors are the same but the back doors are slightly different. Also the front door chrome is different as the S Type has a small detail in the lower back corner of the chrome that the Mk2 does not.

I think the external skins of the steel shell of the doors on the Mk2, S type, and 420 are nominally the same. However, there was some variability both in the space between the door posts and in the dimensions of the door panels. Setting up door frames was a very difficult process prior to making them in one piece pressings and the Pressed Steel Company never excelled in quality control. In the course of a major body restoration, it's not difficult to adjust the door or the frame. It may be more of a nuisance for a local damage repair.

You might try Vintage Jag in Blackfoot ID. Not sure if they still do, but they used to have a pasture full of parts cars.

Back in the mid-80s, I fitted a set of S-type doors to my Mark 2. The door latch arrangement is different so the parts have to be cut off the old doors and then fitted to the S-type doors. Its quite a job, and mine were done by Martin Robey, the Jaguar panels supplier. As I recall, I ended up with a larger gap along the bottom edge, so they weren't a totally good fit , but OK for me, and of course they were new doors and rust free. I also fitted the later window seals that run along the outer window aperture. These are a lip-type seal secured onto a chrome-plated housing and provide much better weather protection.
