Default Door Weather Strip

Can anyone advise me on installing new door weather stripping? I have just had the car painted, and the paint shop bolted the doors back on. I had them, paint the riveted on strips separately and I bought new weather stripping from Welsh Jaguar. Do I need to take the doors back off to do this?

Many people have tried, over the years, to fit the door rubbers with the doors on,and usually fail. These are glued in, and getting the glue into the channels in certain places is very difficult with the doors on. If it were me, I'd take the doors off. Make sure you used plenty of protection on the nearby front wings when taking off the front doors.

Don't forget that the front screen pillars, and the cantrail wood trim securing screws go in via the door rubbers channel so the rubbers cover the heads of the screws.

Thanks. I remember that the trim screws were buried under the rubber when I took it apart. Also the sill plates I think? So sequence is obviously important. Fortunately I have not installed any of the door components yet, so removing them will be relatively easy as they don't weigh much.

yes, sill plate screws under the rubber too. Thanks for pointing that out about the doors. Not sure I would have done any differently.
