Default Quick Question: Re passenger door light

I just noticed that my passenger door window up /down switch does not light up. Truth is I never thought about it before. The drivers up/down switch lights, could you please verify if the passenger window switch is supposed to too?

If so, I'll have to figure out how to get to the bulb. I've been putting the same thing off for my Sport switch too so I'll have to get to work and set things right for both of them.

Thanks,

John

Yes, it is. I replaced the bulb in one of mine. From memory the window switch is a removable bulb and the sport switch is soldered in - I've replaced all the bulbs in my car so my memory of which are soldered and which are in removable holders may be a little hazy!!

The window switches are supposed to be illuminated? Are we talking about the switches in the door's arm rest? All three of mine of "dark".

The two on my driver's door are lit, but the passenger's is not. I am going in to change all the bulbs tomorrow. been waiting for a pack from the Main Dealer.
2 x JLM11965
1 x LNA5180BA
8 x JLM20308
3 x JLM20309

Just not going to do the Main Instrument Cluster as I did those last year. Last time I did all the bulbs was in 2005. Six have failed in the last six months. It is such a fxxt getting the radio etc out I thought I'd do them all in one go again.

LNA5180BA - white with a base. There's one in the switch panel as well.
LNA5180CA - blue with a base most of the rest.

Just opened up the pack, the blue ones have a new part number: JLM11965

and the green ones are JLM20309.

I have been warned about this before. Part numbers are not carved in stone...

Make sure to specify and confirm the back-light color when ordering the bulb(s). The PO either had the passenger's side window switch's light bulb replaced, or did it themselves, with a clear aftermarket lamp from NAPA etc., or did not specify the color.

Now I have two blue back-lit window switches on the driver's door, and white light blasting from the single window switch on the passenger door. I harvested the blue bulb 'sock' from a Sport Mode Switch I had bought for the 'S' cap, the back-light bulb is soldered onto that component, to put on the passenger door bulb, to tint it blue and restore balance in the Universe.

As confirmed, they are although they're also dimmable from the column control.
If you're like me and always have the dash lights dimmed, they may appear dark, and they're very 'ambience' even at full brightness.

That's it. Did the lot yesterday including the Passenger Door. Took 90 minutes including removing the centre console and minor instrument cluster.

Did take a few minutes to deduce the procedure for the door switches. Pull out the rubber boot, pull off the forward pad with a trim tool, then release the locking screw (bolt?) to release the trim and switch assembly.

Blue bulb - JLM20308

Good luck!
