Default Fools rush in!

Just contemplating:

After all the $$$'s I've spent restoring my Mk2 (still not finished!), I could have bought this:

What a lovely car.

Damn it!

I believe that at one point in time or another, most of us enthusiasts/restorers have done the same thing. Spent tons of money restoring a car that we could have purchased for much less and we could be driving it. However, on the other side of the coin, when we restore a car, we know exactly what was done and what the condition of the final product is.

Very nice car. But it'd want to be at that price. You could buy 4 or 5 XJ6's, in reasonable condition, for that money. & it's almost double what a concourse car could be expected to make. & it's not even a Coupe! Though it does look very nice. Your car's already worth 2 to 3 times what that car's worth, & appreciating. So, if $25K is all she owes you, I'd say you're still well in the money. & the car I'd want in my garage is the one that's already in yours.

You could buy this for the same money. https://www.carsales.com.au/private/...-4484948/?Cr=0 I know which one I'd be buying, & it'd be worth more than the XJ6 in ten years time. Unless the XJ6 was stored in a climate controlled garage, driven minimal mileage & serviced every six months, regardless of costs, by a Jag Specialist! The S-Type would just need to be driven sensibly & serviced regularly to remain an appreciating asset. & yes, I wish I had the money to buy this car outright, as I'll easily spend that getting my S-Type to a similar standard. NB This car's a bargain! Anyone in Australia looking for the right S-Type at the right price THIS IS IT!!! https://www.carsales.com.au/private/...-4484948/?Cr=0 It's even in BRG!

Hey RED , Many of us have gone down this road......look at it two ways...
1. Your enjoying your rebuild and will know every detail of the cars..cough...cough
2. Ill buy your load of crap for 200 dollars to put you out of your misery
Having fun with you , just watch chasing classic cars, its the same ending, husband dies , never drove the car, in a million pieces and the wife waves goodbye to it for 10 cents on the thousand dollars....

p.s. that's ONE PRETTY SERIES 1
