They are pretty much the same thing with less emphasis on cold temperature sludge from the combustion process. Operate in the same fashion. No negative effects in a gearbox other than additive giveaway that hurts our pocket not yours. Dosage is pretty high ~ 10 to 16%. We only blend premium engine oils and the truth be known it is such a cut throat market that profitability mainly in the US is dependent on people not using their coupons in the Sunday/Weekend editions of the Newspaper. The Dallas Morning News cuts down half a rain forest every weekend. The thickest Newspaper I've ever seen. Give me industrial oils & grease any day where people are prepared to pay for proven superior performance. When I was on the FTC "clean team" for the Caltex-Texaco-Chevron merger we were running at a loss on DELO 400 ~ our flagship of DEO's and the finest in the eyes of many out there ~ especially OEMs. In fact the gent that developed DELO 400 has just retired. Jim McGeehan ~ he will be sorely missed.
